About the Role

Responsibilities:

Develop, implement, and oversee study abroad programs, including program design, curriculum development, and evaluation frameworks, in alignment with institutional goals and student learning outcomes.
Coordinate the recruitment and selection process for study abroad participants, including promoting programs, reviewing applications, conducting interviews, and making program recommendations.
Provide comprehensive pre-departure orientations and advising sessions to prepare students for their study abroad experiences, covering topics such as cultural adaptation, health and safety, academic expectations, and travel logistics.
Collaborate with partner institutions and organizations to establish and maintain effective partnerships for study abroad opportunities, including negotiating agreements, coordinating program logistics, and ensuring program compliance.
Support students throughout their study abroad experiences, serving as the main point of contact for inquiries, emergencies, and academic support.
Develop and maintain accurate program budgets, monitor expenditures, and ensure fiscal responsibility in program operations.
Coordinate logistical aspects of study abroad programs, including travel arrangements, visa processes, housing accommodations, and orientation activities.
Collaborate with faculty and staff to integrate study abroad experiences into academic curricula, ensuring appropriate credit transfer and academic support for participants.
Promote study abroad opportunities and engage with various campus stakeholders, including students, faculty, advisors, and parents, through information sessions, presentations, workshops, and other outreach activities.
Stay up-to-date with best practices, industry trends, and relevant regulations in the field of study abroad and international education.
Collaborate with institutional offices, such as registrar, financial aid, and student affairs, to ensure seamless administrative processes for study abroad participants.
Contribute to program assessment and evaluation efforts, collecting and analyzing data to measure program effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in international education, higher education administration, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.

  • Experience working in study abroad or international education, preferably in a higher education setting.

  • Strong knowledge of study abroad program development, administration, and best practices.

  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple programs simultaneously.

  • Exceptional interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with diverse populations, including students, faculty, staff, and international partners.

  • Knowledge of student services and support systems, including advising, crisis management, and risk assessment in a study abroad context.

  • Familiarity with international travel logistics, visa processes, and health and safety considerations for study abroad participants.

  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with the ability to anticipate challenges and find creative solutions.

  • Proficiency in using technology and software applications relevant to program management, such as databases, student information systems, and collaboration tools.

  • Commitment to promoting inclusivity, diversity, and cultural sensitivity in study abroad programming.

  • Willingness to work flexible hours and travel internationally as needed.
